Club Meeting – 10 December 2018
Our theme from tonight’s evening was ‘Christmas presents’. Tom led the impromptu speaking session with some Christmas themed questions in which volunteers had up to two minutes to provide a short speech without any previous planning. This really demands on-the-spot thinking skills, which is useful to develop for situations such as job interviews, dating, conversation starters, difficult questions during meetings and any other situations where a quick answer is needed!
Robin began his toastmasters journey by delivering his Icebreaker speech. We wish the best of luck to him as he continues his journey.
All toastmasters groups have a dedicated committee which consists of the Chairman, Vice President of Membership, Vice President of Education, Sergeant at Arms, Vice President of Public Relations and a Treasurer. These people are volunteers who fulfil a specific function and work to make our evenings run smoothly. None of them are paid for their work but all have undertaken their role to improve their leadership skills. Tonight we had our monthly committee meeting following the session. It was refreshing to reflect on the year’s achievements and look forward to developing the club into the new year.
It is almost 2019! If you would like to improve your public speaking and leadership skills then Cass Toastmasters is for you. We meet every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month, so please feel free to visit and see what we are all about. Here is a helpful link: https://www.meetup.com/CASSToastmasters/events/257139606/
