Meeting 28 January 2019

We have had a great turnout tonight of 30, with around half of those being members and the other half guests. The first half of the evening started, as usual, with our Tabletopics session where attendees get to deliver an impromptu 2 minute speech on a question presented to them. Well done to 3 of our guests who gave it a go – and delivered some great speeches.

Club Meeting – 10 December 2018

Our theme from tonight’s evening was ‘Christmas presents’. Tom led the impromptu speaking session with some Christmas themed questions in which volunteers had up to two minutes to provide a short speech without any previous planning. This really demands on-the-spot thinking skills, which is useful to develop for situations such as job interviews, dating, conversation starters, difficult questions during meetings and any other situations where a quick answer is needed!

Club Meeting – 12 November 2018

We decided to mix things up at Toastmasters this evening, where we ran an extended Tabletopics session. Tabletopics is a great way to practice impromptu speaking. Members and guests speak for 1-2 minutes on a question presented to them. This is an effective way to practice for those situations where you need to think on your feet, such as a job interview, date, tough question from a manager. Etc. 6 people took part in this, including one of our guests. Well done to Richard for winning ‘Best Tabletopics Speaker’.
