A Masterclass in Impromptu Speaking

Finally the long awaited Cass Toastmaster special event arrived! David Jones, 6 times D71 TT champion. As this is a special event, so many new faces from different clubs/divisions appeared all for the same goal – to excel at impromptu speaking.

Our president Alice Au Steenson started the event at circa 6:30 and briefly introduced Cass TM. Without further ado, DJ was welcomed on stage.

February 22nd brought us another amazing evening – our club International Speech and Evaluation contest!

Cass was filled with members, guest, judges, participants and a mystery speaker (no longer a mystery – it was the amazing humorous Taz)

It was a great opportunity to see our contestants showcase their speeches packed with devices that they have each learnt in their toastmaster journey; body language, vocal variety, humours, powers of three, this list goes on….

Monday 8th Feb; Chinese New Year, brought us a Toastmaster session complete with numerous guests (considering storm ‘Imogen’ had blown public transport into disarray resulting to a number of our members unable to reach Cass- it was excellent!)

Banging the gavel on the button to start the meeting was our sergeant of arms Moez Adamjee, who welcomed our step-in club president Paul Lau. Paul explained the toastmasters mission and gave a warm welcome to all the guests and the introduction of the toastmaster of the evening Leslie Bediade.

The second event into the year was marked by high enthusiasm as most members come back from their holidays refreshed and ready to improve our communication and leadership together!

Moez Adamjee: our SAA started our night promptly at 1830 and called forth our acting President Pravin Vijay. Pravin clearly stated the purpose of the club and built up the expectation that tonight will be another great night to learn and have fun. Pravin then handed the stage to Paul Lau, our Toastmaster of the night, who briefly explained itinerary and reminded a few housekeeping rules. How very thoughtful!
